Task Force will continue to monitor A/S at UCI

The task force that I helped to create has decided to continue after last year’s report, citing the continuation of anti-Semitic activity at the UCI campus.  Despite heavy national and local criticism, the administration refuses to clamp down on the MSU.

Here is the press release from the Task Force.

Huntington Beach, CA – September 19, 2008 – The Orange County Independent Task Force on anti-Semitism will continue to monitor fresh allegations of ongoing anti-Semitic activity at The University of California, Irvine (UCI).  The Task Force consists of Jewish and non-Jewish members of the community, and includes current and former faculty members, religious and lay community leaders.

On February 12, 2008, the Independent Task Force completed its year long investigation at UCI.  Over 80 hours of interviews, as well as, documents, written complaints and numerous visits to the campus were used in the compilation of the subsequent Report and Recommendations.
The complete 34 page report can be found at:

Over the past several months, the Task Force has continued to receive disturbing reports including the following:

•    Anti-Semitic programs sponsored by MSU have continued, with guest speakers ratcheting up anti-Semitic hate speech.

•    On Marc

h 30, 2008, twenty current and former Jewish and non-Jewish UCI students issued a press release expressing (in part) deep concern “…about the anti-Semitism at UCI that has been frequently couched as false and hateful attacks on Israel. We do not believe that UCI Chancellor Michael Drake has exercised his responsibility as an educator and university leader in response to the anti-Semitism…”

Mayor Bloomberg: Arrest Ahmadinejad

Dear Mayor Bloomberg,

On Monday, yet again, your city will be hosting Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Dictator of Iran, one of the most evil men on earth. Just a peek at his portfolio:  Ahmadinejad has crushed his people and opponents, kept Americans hostage in 1979, and promises to wipe Israel off the map.  His actions and his words speak volumes about his intentions to build and use nukes.  He sends guns, ammo, land mines, missiles, money and bombs to Hamas, Hizbollah, and those killing American soldiers in Iraq.  He is a murderous madman like Hitler, Stalin, and Mao.

Imagine the suffering that could have been avoided if anyone of them had been apprehended, tried and sentenced before they were allowed to institute their evil plans?

Do the right thing— and the world will thank you. It will raise your profile and your moral standing.  It will be a mitzvah.

The world wants this madman off the streets.

Your sincerely,

Rabbi Yonah Bookstein

Will McCartney risk his life to play in Tel Aviv?

paulPaul McCartney is playing Tel Aviv. Or will he.  First, McCartney faced the ire of anti-Israel musicians and friends for booking a gig in Israel. But he was not deterred. Then he faced threats by anti-Israel groups – still he has not budged. He likes Israel andwants to bring a peace message. And now he faces threats by terror organizations. JPost reports:

McCartney Warned against Israel Show

Former Beatle Paul McCartney’s decision to perform in Tel Aviv has turned him into the target of a terror attack following a threat made against the singer by extremist Islamic leader Omar Bakri.

His planned participation in a concert celebrating Israel’s 60th anniversary has made him the enemy of all Muslims, British tabloid Sunday Express quoted Bakri as saying.

Bakri’s threat was made in a weekly internet broadcast from Lebanon, where he has lived in exile since being banned from returning to Britain. The 48-year-old Syrian national questioned the Holocaust’s authenticity, and asked how McCartney could participate in the celebration of the independence of the Jewish state. Read more
